Quan An Ngon
The concept behind this attractive, open-air restaurant is brilliant: the owner recruited several dozen of the city’s most popular street-food vendors to ply their trade under one roof. It’s a great introduction to Vietnam’s astonishingly rich street-food culture, as all the classics are on offer, from muc nuong ot (grilled squid with chili sauce) to bun cha gio (rice vermicelli topped with fresh herbs and crispy spring rolls). The variety is endless, the quality consistently excellent, and the atmosphere convivial—equally popular among tourists and Vietnamese families. A waiter will guide you through the menu. (Ngon means “delicious,” by the way.)
Insider Tip: Before you order, take a walk around the shaded courtyard to see each dish being prepared by a different cook, street-fair style. Look for the English signs telling you what they’re making.
