This Carroll Gardens restaurant from the team behind Frankies Spuntino is a tribute to the German barrooms and banquet halls that once dominated the New York City food scene in the late 1880s. But the homage to the past isn’t limited to the menu, which includes dishes like weisswurst, two kinds of spaetzle and warm chewy-crispy pretzels made from an old family recipe. The dining room is a triumph of historical re-creation, filled with hand-carved wooden filigree, and staff wearing 19th century-inspired uniforms.
