Pine State Biscuits
Started by three North Carolina transplants in 2006 as a booth in the Portland Farmer’s Market, this Southern-style diner now has two full-time locations, both eternally crowded. Their specialty is over-the-top biscuit sandwiches, like the Wedgie, with buttermilk fried chicken, a fried green tomato, iceberg lettuce and blue cheese dressing. Even more decadent is the Reggie Deluxe, with fried chicken, bacon, cheddar, gravy and a fried egg.
