Peking Duck House
Not surprisingly, the roast duck is the signature dish at Peking Duck House in Chinatown, and little wonder. The preparation of Peking duck is notoriously laborious and complex, and this is one spot that does it well. The skin is rubbed with maltose and roasted in a hot oven. Carved into thin slices table-side, the duck is served with steaming mu-shu pancakes, scallions, cucumbers, and special hoisin sauce. The restaurant also offers more than 40 seafood selections such as sea cucumber with shrimp roe or the steamed sea bass. The 2004 renovations introduced gray fabric walls, light brown banquettes, soft lighting, wood trim, and white tablecloths.
