ONE
A mecca for well-to-do Canadian socialites and international celebrities, gold rims nearly everything at One Restaurant in Yorkville, bill included. The contemporary dining room, installed in the ritzy Hazelton Hotel, features high ceilings, low-profile tables and chairs, and mirrored walls covered with suede panels. Open late and utilizing natural and Ontario-sourced ingredients, chef Mark McEwan's kitchen turns out bistro-inspired main dishes such as beef shortrib with roasted root vegetables, orata with cracked olives and salsa verde, and minted English peas with goat cheese. The restaurant's street-side patio, which overlooks the corner of Hazelton and Yorkville, is one of the top people-watching spots in the neighborhood.
