Vancouver's vibrant Commercial Drive is known for ethnic diversity and culinary surprises, and Memphis Blues Barbecue House is no exception to that rule. Half fast-food joint and half family-style restaurant, this Southern transplant serves up sizable portions of (unsurprisingly) Memphis-style barbecue. Pulled-pork sandwiches, barbecued ribs, and catfish po'boys are among entrée specialties, alongside all the necessary "fixins" like corn bread, potato salad, and plenty of free-flowing sweet tea. Checkered tablecloths, Tennessee-kitsch (photos of Memphis music legends and street scenes), and plenty of soulful tunes round out the experience, and a paper towel roll on each table drives home the fact that Memphis Blues isn't about frills, it's about chowing down.
