In a town known for chalets and wealthy tourists, McCarthy’s Restaurant in remains decidedly laid-back. Conversation among the normally full wood booths, ski paraphernalia, and local art is often boisterous, as is the chatty staff, who fly through the aisles carrying trays laden with brunch favorites like Belgian waffles, Irish homefries, and the Woodchuck Omelette with granny smith apples, maple sausage, and Cabot cheddar. Particularly popular are the homemade corn beef hash and caramel walnut sticky buns. Many customers come though for the coffee alone, reputed to be the best in town.
