Among Long Street's many ethnic restaurants, Masala Dosa stands out for its menu, inspired by south Indian street food, and for its style, a blend of traditional and whimsical design. Housed in a restored Victorian building, the dining room contains all-white furniture, large white columns, and shelves lined with glass spice jars, as well as more unusual touches like oversize Indian puppets and fake Bollywood posters advertising the restaurant's dishes. Although the menu includes expected staples like curries and kebabs, the specialty is the dosa, a thin rice-and-lentil pancake stuffed with various fillings, such as curried potatoes or coconut chicken.
