Taking its namesake from the Italian word for sea, Mare focuses on using local, organic, and sustainable ingredients, including cultivated shellfish and hormone-free beef, for its coastal Italian menu inspired by the cuisine of the Amalfi Coast. In fact, executive chef Greg Jordan’s menu is almost entirely certified organic and sustainable seafood. To bring out the natural flavors of the seafood, chef Jordan creates simple dishes like Maine crab risotto, truffle-crusted tuna, and yellowfin tuna tartare. The dining room is almost all silver, including the furniture, window trim, and ceiling, and ceiling-high windows open out onto the North End.
