From the May 2008 Food & Wine Go List
This out-of-the-way place serves soul food that could only exist at the intersection of the Caribbean and the Deep South. While the cooking is down-home, the setting is anything but, with white linen tablecloths, fresh tropical flowers and a dining room accented in namesake mahogany.
We loved: Crispy fried chicken and puffy waffles; oxtail stew.
Insider tip: The after-church Sunday brunch offers bargain-priced platters and a parade of fancy hats.
