Mabeyin restaurant takes its name from the area between the harem (women’s section) and selamlik (men’s section) in Ottoman palaces where receptions and banquets were held for guests. Its setting in a restored 19th-century villa on the Asian side of Istanbul continues the tradition in three elegant salons, each with its own color scheme of red, green or blue. The menu has 15 traditional kebabs and five seasonal ones made with quince, truffle, onion, garlic, and loquats. In warmer months, diners flock to tables in the outdoor garden under ancient pine trees and fragrant magnolias.
