It is only fitting that Chef Cyril Lignac's swanky bistro in the city's lively Popincourt neighborhood would be housed in a registered historical monument, as quintessential French cuisine and vintage decor go hand in hand. Established by the Chardenoux family in the early 20th century, the namesake restaurant's classical beginnings resonate today with walls of mirrors and engraved glass, painted ceilings, and intricately carved moldings. A mosaic pattern of 14 types of marble surrounds the vintage, pewter-topped bar. Chef Lignac's traditional-yet-innovative French dishes, such as steak with bernaise and tarte tatin, have drawn crowds since 2008.
