La Verdad Taqueria
You may expect to find the great Mexican food just across the street from Boston's iconic Fenway Park, but this smart little taqueria has emerged as one of the neighborhood's most buzz-worthy dining spots thanks to award-winning chef Ken Oringer gourmet take on Mexican fast food. Inside, the playful decor includes glass-incased luchadore (an acrobatic Mexican wrestler) masks and a blue banner behind the bar that proclaims dining here is "Like a Night in Tijuana." Hyperbole aside, La Verdad's grilled corn topped with chipotle aioli and Cotija cheese, duck carnitas, and carne asada tacos as (braised beef tongue) are as authentic as can be, and the bar serves up only 100% agave tequilas.

Ken Oringer, the chef and owner of Clio and Toro, picked a much-trafficked place for his new taqueria—across the street from Fenway Park. The brightly lit take-out counter offers a dozen varieties of both classic and unconventional tacos; for more leisurely meals, there’s a dining room decorated with wrestling masks and tequila bottles.
