La Lucciola

Jalan Petitenget
Seminyak , Bali
62-361-730-838

The quintessential beachside hot spot, “La Looch's” thatch-roofed, bi-level restaurant opens onto a sweeping palm-studded lawn and the scenic beach beyond. At lunch and dinner, sarong-clad waiters (who are perpetually gracious about accommodating special requests) ferry plates of fresh calamari and Pacific oysters, ruby snapper fillet, and baked mudcrab with saffron aioli to a lively mix of locals and beautiful-people tourists. Even brunch is something of a scene; the previous night's partiers stop by in droves to take the edge off with tasty ricotta hot cakes and smoked-salmon scrambled eggs on toasted focaccia. Note that the only way to get to the restaurant is through the parking lot of the famous Petitenget Temple next door, or by walking along the beach from The Legian Hotel; there's no sign, but the lively dining crowd is unmistakable.

Tip: Go early to grab a seat for sunset in the Frangipani Lounge and try a lime-and-tangerine granita (with or without vodka) while waiting for your dinner table. And be prepared to put your name on the list—in high season, advance bookings are absolutely essential.
