La Grande Orange Pizzeria

<p>They used to make and sell the pizza at La Grande Orange out of a <a href="/thingtodo/shop/la-grande-orange-grocery">little market</a>, but the pies became so popular that they opened a full-size restaurant next door. Start with the white sangria (a mix of white wine, triple sec, brandy, and sliced fruit), then order a wood-fired pie; the veggie favorite is the avocado, tomato, basil, and lemon zest. Meat-eaters will crave the Gladiator, which is topped with pepperoni and spicy Italian sausage from Schreiner's sausage house, a local butcher.</p> <p><strong>Tip:</strong> LGO serves dessert, but skip it and head next door to Arlecchino Gelateria for authentic, homemade gelato; the owner trained in Italy, and his fruit-based flavors (such as blood orange) are seasonal.</p>
