Located on the second floor of the Waikiki Beach Walk—a large development with restaurants, hotels, and shops—Kaiwa is a teppan-fusion and sushi restaurant operated husband-and-wife restaurateur team Isamu and Motoko Kubota. The interior’s decorative elements include water features, a brightly patterned ceiling, and crystal chandeliers. Executive chef Daisuke Miyakawa uses fresh ingredients to craft dishes such as akashi tako sashimi (Japanese octopus) and grilled kurobuta pork loin topped with barley miso. Kaiwa has an extensive cocktail menu, but a favorite among regulars is the sake martini.
