A small round sign advertising warm beer, lousy food, and poor service marks the location of this lively uptown eatery. A table for two sits in the bed of an old pickup truck parked out front, while the restaurant’s interior is decorated with everything from Mardi Gras beads and Christmas lights to a boar’s head with a Barbie doll in its mouth. The path to the dining room crosses through the kitchen, where vivacious chef-owner Jacques Leonardi sports a chef’s jacket, shorts, and clogs as he and his team craft signature Creole dishes like alligator cheesecake and fried chicken.
