Hungarian Pastry Shop

1030 Amsterdam Ave.
New York , NY , United States
(212) 866-4230

Located in Morningside Heights, the Hungarian Pastry Shop is an assuming place often filled with students from nearby Columbia University indulging in coffee, tea and Hungarian baked goods. The long glass pastry counter is filled with cakes, tortes, mousses and more. Specialties include the Dobos torte, a layered yellow sponge cake with buttercream frosting and caramel topping, sour cherry strudel, croissants and Rigo Jancsi, a chocolate sponge cake with chocolate cream filling. The simple interior is comfortable and quiet, being one of the few cafes that does not play overhead music.
