<p>Formal and wood-paneled in the manner of Italy's grand old coffee bars, and equipped with Wi-Fi in the style of the new, this is a standout in a city of excellent but fairly identical cafés. (And, embarrassingly for Romans, this is a branch of a Neapolitan coffee empire.) Being a devoutly Italian bar, la Caffettiera serves no food beyond pastries, and regulars—including dashing <em>deputati</em> from nearby government buildings of Palazzo Montecitorio and Palazzo Chigi—take their espresso and nips of <em>amaro</em> standing at the counter. The ricotta-filled <em>sfogliatelle</em> are the best outside of Naples.</p>
