Detroit's Breakfast House & Grill @ Merchant's Row

print
1241 Woodward Avenue, Downtown
Detroit, Michigan
313-961-1115

The breakfast and lunch choice of CEO’s, judges, government officials, and other power people is designed to resemble a contemporary yet cozy living room. Bright pastels and plasma TV’s adorn the walls, and there’s even a fireplace in the foyer. The morning menu offers “healthy and hearty” options like turkey sausage and egg-white omelettes, but most diners opt for plates heaped with pancakes and maple syrup or enormous meat-lovers’ frittatas. The restaurant’s high ceilings are somewhat echoey, making crowds seem bigger and louder—and also enabling eavesdroppers to listen in on deals being brokered at the next table.

Tip: Try Stuffed Frank’s Toast, French toast stuffed with cream cheese and baked apples, named after the owner, Frank Taylor.
