De Bakkerswinkel
Meaning “the bakery,” De Bakkerswinkel is renowned for its wide array of homemade breads and pastries. At this location, one of eight in the city, the homelike interior is the work of celebrated designer Piet Hein Eek, known for his use of recycled materials. The front counter is comprised of mismatched wooden planks, while the brick-walled dining area contains light-wood tables topped with fresh flowers. In addition to baked goods, the café serves light breakfast fare, lunchtime soups and sandwiches, and traditional high tea. Breakfast is especially popular, with options including brioche French toast, and croissants with house-made pineapple-basil jam.
