One of Vermont’s most dramatic views belongs to Stowe’s Cliff House. Perched at roughly 3600 feet on the edge of the state’s highest mountain, Mount Mansfield, the Austrian chalet-style restaurant with huge floor-to-ceiling windows differs from most ski lodges with its fine dining versions of hearty winter fare. American classics are inflused with Vermont touches, resulting in dishes like venison chili, lobster mac-n-cheese, and curried butternut squash soup. Several thematic dinners take place each month, often with live music and according to available seasonal ingredients.
