Chez Spencer
The high wooden gates at Chez Spencer in SoMa give way to a garden full of herbs, flowers, and olive trees and a heated courtyard filled with fairy lights. Inside, high arching wooden beams and skylights bring an airiness to the restaurant; figure paintings and taxidermy grace the walls, and chef-owner Laurent Katgely works from the open kitchen and wood-burning oven. The tasting menu is a perfect way to savor multiple classic French dishes, including foie gras "Torchon" with blackberry compote and the wood-grilled filet mignon with morels a la creme, shaved truffles, and truffle butter.
