Campanile
Located in a beautiful Tuscan-style building (formerly Charlie Chaplin’s offices) on La Brea Avenue, Campanile is one of L.A.’s most legendary restaurants. Not only has chef Mark Peel’s rustic Cal-Med food inspired countless acolytes, original pastry chef Nancy Silverton also started the La Brea Bakery here. The food is simple and often grilled, as in the famous crispy flattened chicken. The weekend brunches are monumental, and Thursday grilled cheese nights have massive followings for sandwiches like the Sevillana ( Serrano ham, fresh figs, manchego cheese and honey).
