If you've yet to try Malaysian cuisine, this snug, romantic, batik-decorated West End dining room is the place to do it. The vibrant, spicy dishes served here—which include such classics as rich, coconut-laced ending beef curry and fried, whole Kum Heong crab in spicy sambal sauce—have earned the place a devoted following; the restaurant seems to win another local “best of” award every year, and regulars will gladly wait an hour for a table (reservations aren't accepted).

Insider Tip: The dinner rush is generally over by 8:00 p.m., but it's up to you to put your name on the chalkboard list just inside the restaurant door. During high summer season, people-watching easily passes the wait time.
