Carousel Bar • New Orleans

This New Orleans classic was likely created in the 1930s by Walter Bergeron, who tended bar at the establishment that is today called the Carousel Bar.

Recipe: Vieux Carré

Ingredients

Ice
1 ounce Cognac
1 ounce rye
1 ounce dry vermouth
2 dashes of Angostura bitters
2 dashes of Peychaud's bitters
1 teaspoon Bénédictine
1 lemon twist

Fill a cocktail shaker with ice. Add all of the remaining ingredients except the twist. Shake well and strain into an ice-filled rocks glass. Garnish with the twist.
