Vieux Blanc

Vieux Blanc is Joel Teitelbaum’s update of the Vieux Carré, an old New Orleans classic. Here, he replaces the original’s rye whiskey with rye vodka, which has similar notes of spicy rye.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 ounces vodka, preferably rye, such as Bols
  • 3/4 ounce pisco
  • 3/4 ounce French vermouth, such as Dolin
  • 1/4 ounce Galliano (Italian herbal liqueur)
  • 1/4 ounce Bénédictine (spiced herbal liqueur)
  • 2 dashes of lemon bitters
  • Ice
  • 1 lemon twist

How to make this recipe

  1. In a mixing glass, combine all of the ingredients except ice and the lemon twist; fill with ice and stir well. Strain into a chilled coupe, then pinch the twist over the drink and discard.
