RECIPE

The Paysan

Poste • Washington, D.C.
This Penn Quarter brasserie was formerly the mail-sorting room of the D.C. post office; diners use the same entrance that once accommodated horse-drawn mail carriages.

  • SERVINGS: makes 6 drinks

Ingredients

  1. 16 ounces fruity red wine, preferably Pinot Noir
  2. 8 ounces cranberry juice
  3. 4 ounces fresh orange juice
  4. 4 ounces Chambord
  5. Ice
  6. 3 ounces chilled Sprite
  7. Thinly sliced lemon, lime, and orange zest

Directions

  1. In a pitcher, combine the wine, juices and Chambord; refrigerate until chilled, about 2 hours. Stir well and pour into ice-filled white wine glasses. Top each drink with 1/2 ounce Sprite and garnish with the zests.
