This drink appears in Harry Craddock's 1930 classic, The Savoy Cocktail Book. Craddock was a New York City bartender who traveled to London to work during Prohibition; his book was one of the first to include both European and American cocktails.

- Ice
- 1 1/2 ounces gin
- 1/4 ounce sweet vermouth
- 1/4 ounce dry vermouth
- 1/4 ounce fresh lemon juice
- Dash of Angostura Bitters
- 1 lemon twist
- 1/4 ounce Cointreau or other triple sec
Directions
- Fill a cocktail shaker with ice. Add all of the remaining ingredients except the lemon twist. Shake well and strain into a chilled martini glass. Garnish with the lemon twist.
