This spin on the Astoria cocktail from Albert Stevens Crockett's The Old Waldorf-Astoria Bar Book substitutes a sweet bianco vermouth for a hard-to-find gin called Old Tom.

3 ounces gin
1 ounce bianco vermouth (sweet white vermouth)
2 dashes of orange bitters
1 orange twist
How to Make It
Fill a pint glass with ice. Add the gin, vermouth and orange bitters; stir well. Strain into a chilled coupe and garnish with the orange twist.
