Grace Parisi prepares a wonderfully sticky and nicely sweet glaze of fresh plums and red pepper jelly to brush over drumsticks while grilling. Hot red pepper jelly makes for a spicier glaze; sweet pepper jelly creates a milder one.

Sticky Grilled Drumsticks with Plum Sauce

This is an excellent recipe. I like the dipping sauce to be a bit thicker and stickier, so I put the cooked plums in the food processor with just 1-2 tblsp of water and process. Then I divide it in half and thin out the remaining to brush on the chicken while it's on the grill. I guess you could always reduce the remaining sauce too. Cooking the chicken on medium heat for 20 minutes and finishing on high heat with the sauce for 10 minutes works well too.
