MAKE-AHEAD

The drinks here are based on famous San Francisco cocktails, like the signature recipe from Harry Denton's Starlight Room in the Sir Francis Drake Hotel.

16 ounces chilled club soda
3 ounces Simple Syrup
12 ounces Campari
8 lemon wheels
Ice
6 ounces triple sec
8 ounces fresh orange juice
8 lime wheels
2 ounces Cognac
4 ounces fresh lemon juice

In a pitcher, combine the Campari, fresh orange juice, triple sec, fresh lemon juice, Simple Syrup and Cognac. Refrigerate until chilled, about 2 hours. Stir the mixture well, then pour into ice-filled highball or red wine glasses. Top each drink with 2 ounces of chilled club soda and garnish with the lemon and lime wheels.
