“When I visit the West Coast, the fruit bowls are filled with blood oranges all the time,” Ivy Mix says. Because there’s a limited season for the fruit on the East Coast, she uses blood orange marmalade instead, combining it with sherry vinegar to make this cocktail. Buy a good-quality sherry vinegar; cheap ones can taste harsh.

2 ounces vodka, preferably wheat
3/4 ounce fresh lemon juice
1 tablespoon blood orange marmalade
1/4 ounce Simple Syrup
1/2 teaspoon sherry vinegar
1 ounce chilled club soda
1 blood orange wheel, for garnish
How to Make It
In a cocktail shaker, combine the vodka, lemon juice, marmalade, Simple Syrup and vinegar. Fill the shaker with ice and shake well. Strain into a chilled ice-filled collins glass, stir in the club soda and garnish.
