Reviews for Pasta with Sausage, Basil and Mustard
Go back to recipeI used spicy sausages and a high quality mustard, and thought it was OK. It was kind of one dimensional-nothing special. My palate got tired of it quickly.

Yummy. Perfect on a winter day. I use a combo of fresh hot and mild italian sausauge. Add a shallot for a bit more flavour. So good!

I'm not sure how this could be bland! Between the spice of the sausage (we use hot italian turkey sausage), and the tanginess of the mustard, this is one of our favorite quick dishes. I make sure to let the sauce cool for at least a minute or two with a quick blast of heat before combining with the pasta to give it extra creaminess. Third time was a charm tonight.

I thought that this pasta was pretty bland. I decided to make it again and added a large can of whole tomatoes (diced up), two cloves of garlic (minced), a half onion (diced), salt, pepper, and a pinch of cayenne pepper to taste, and a touch of cognac. It turned out much better, but then again it's no longer the same recipe with all the additions.

A perfect "comfort meal"! The sausage I used was a bit too spicy but I will love to make this again with a milder chicken or turkey variety. A previous reviewer suggested browning onions with the sausage, which was terrific and I used orecchiette instead of shells. We drank a California Sangiovese, "Altamura", Napa Valley 2005 and ate every last bite.

I loved this recipe. I used Bob Evans Italian sausage by weight instead, that way there was no fuse with cases. My leftovers were lost some flavor the next day though.

Very hearty and works great as a one-dish meal. It was so easy to make my husband cooked it! It is easy to vary the flavors by adding different sausages too.

Good, but to make it even better brown 1- 2 minced onions with the sausage and add 1/2-3/4 cups grated Parmesano-Reggiano to pasta with basil.

Fanstic quick and easy dish - goes great with garlicky sauteed broccoli. This is a frequent request from the bride-to-be...this could quickly become one of your favorite easy entertaining or comfort foods.

This is a wonderful dish and easy to make. Since I don't like a lot of fresh basil I use fresh parsley instead - it really goes well with the sauce.

This is a very heavy pasta dish. Quite satisfying. Just add a litte scrambled eggs, and it would be great for a Sunday brunch.
