“Many people treat rum like it’s only for summer,” Kenyon says. “I wanted to create a cold-weather rum drink.” He uses Sailor Jerry spiced Navy rum, which has a higher proof than most rums and hints of cherry, cinnamon and cloves.

  1. 2 ounces spiced rum
  2. 1/2 ounce Heering cherry liqueur
  3. 1/2 ounce Cynar (bitter artichoke aperitif)
  4. Ice, plus 1 large ice cube for serving
  5. 1 maraschino cherry, for garnish
  1. In a mixing glass, combine the rum, Heering and Cynar; fill with ice and stir well. Strain into a chilled rocks glass over the large ice cube and garnish with the cherry.
