The name of this upscale taqueria refers to the trees in Mexico’s Michoacán province, where millions of monarch butterflies swarm every autumn. Oyamel’s tortilla baskets are woven from the needles of oyamel trees.

Ingredients

  1. 16 ounces gold tequila
  2. 16 ounces passion fruit nectar or juice
  3. 8 ounces Ginger-Jalapeño Syrup
  4. Ice
  5. 16 ounces chilled club soda
  6. 8 jalapeño slices

Directions

  1. In a pitcher, combine the tequila, passion fruit nectar and Ginger-Jalapeño Syrup. Cover and refrigerate until chilled, about 2 hours. Stir well and pour into 8 ice-filled highball glasses. Top each drink with 2 ounces of chilled soda and garnish with a jalapeño slice.
