Mezcal adds an extra kick to tequila in this updated version of the classic old-fashioned.
- 1 1/2 ounces reposado tequila
- 1/2 ounce mezcal
- 2 dashes of Angostura bitters
- 1 teaspoon agave nectar
- 1 orange twist
- In a mixing glass, combine the tequila, mezcal, bitters and agave nectar; fill the glass with ice and stir well. Strain into an ice-filled double rocks glass. Over the glass, hold the orange twist between your thumb and two fingers; hold a lit match 1 inch away from the twist and pinch the twist sharply to release its oils. Garnish the drink with the flamed twist.
