"This was one of the first cocktails I made using mezcal; I realized that combining mezcal with tequila was like putting tequila on steroids," says mixologist Philip Ward. "Most tequila in the U.S. is only 80 proof, and I wanted more oomph! I discovered the oomph in mezcal."
- Fill a pint glass with ice. Add all of the remaining ingredients except the garnish and stir well. Strain into an ice-filled double rocks glass and garnish with the flamed orange twist.
