"This recipe takes a common gin sour and makes it uncommonly good" says James Wampler. It features pink gin (a gin blended with bitters, concocted by Royal Navy men to cure seasickness) and a Pinot Noir float on the top.

Slideshows: Wine Cocktails

  1. 2 ounces pink gin, preferably Rogue
  2. 3/4 ounce Simple Syrup
  3. 3/4 ounce fresh lemon juice
  4. Ice
  5. 1/2 ounce Pinot Noir or other light, fruity red wine
  1. In a cocktail shaker, combine the gin, Simple Syrup and lemon juice. Fill the shaker with ice and shake well. Strain into a chilled ice-filled rocks glass and float the wine on top, slowly pouring it over the back of a bar spoon near the drink's surface.
