Mock Mojito Mule

Ryan Maybee fuses the flavors of two classic cocktails—the Mojito and the Moscow Mule (vodka, ginger beer and lime)—in this citrusy, ginger-spiked drink. Since there are so many ginger beers on the market (some good and some not so good), Maybee prepares his own using homemade ginger syrup and tonic water.
- 1/2 lime, quartered
- 2 orange wedges
- 1 ounce Ginger Syrup
- Ice cubes, plus crushed ice
- 5 mint leaves, plus 1 mint sprig for garnish
- 2 ounces chilled tonic water
- In a cocktail shaker, muddle the lime quarters and orange wedges with the Ginger Syrup. Add ice cubes and the mint leaves and shake well. Fine-strain into a chilled, crushed ice-filled collins glass. Stir in the tonic water and garnish with the mint sprig.
