Masala Mai Tai

Eben Freeman spikes Victor "Trader Vic" Bergeron's most famous tiki drink, the mai tai, with garam masala. This traditional Indian spice blend includes cloves, coriander and cardamom.

  1. Ice cubes, plus crushed ice
  2. 1 1/2 ounces Garam Masala Rum
  3. 3/4 ounce fresh lime juice
  4. 1/2 ounce orange curaçao or 1/4 ounce Grand Marnier mixed with 1/4 ounce Simple Syrup
  5. 1/2 ounce orgeat (almond-flavored syrup)
  6. 1 mint sprig, for garnish
  1. Fill a cocktail shaker with ice cubes. Add all of the remaining ingredients except crushed ice and the mint and shake well. Strain into a crushed ice–filled rocks glass and garnish with the mint sprig.
