Marseille Can You See?

Sean Hoard developed this cocktail after drinking pastis during a petanque tournament. In France, pastis is usually served neat or blended with water. Here, Hoard combines the anise-flavored spirit with three common mixers: vermouth, orange juice and lime juice.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 ounces French blanc vermouth, such as Dolin
  • 1/4 ounce pastis
  • 1/2 ounce fresh orange juice
  • 1/4 ounce fresh lime juice
  • Ice cubes, plus crushed ice for serving

How to make this recipe

  1. In a cocktail shaker, combine the vermouth, pastis and citrus juices. Fill the shaker with ice cubes and shake well. Strain into a chilled rocks glass and top with crushed ice.
