RECIPE

Man of Leisure

Jack the Horse Tavern • Brooklyn, NY
Mixologist Damon Dyer based this drink on a mid-20th-century cocktail named for the famous racehorse Man o’War, replacing the orange cuacao in the original with pear-flavored Belle de Brillet.

Ingredients

  1. Ice
  2. 1 1/2 ounces bourbon
  3. 1/2 ounce Belle de Brillet or pear liqueur
  4. 1/2 ounce Cointreau or other triple sec
  5. 1/2 ounce sweet vermouth
  6. Dash of Angostura bitters

Directions

  1. Fill a cocktail shaker with ice. Add all of the remaining ingredients and shake well. Strain into a chilled martini glass.
