Kathy Casey lightens the sidecar by replacing most of the traditional Cognac with vodka and adding muddled fresh blackberries. For an extra hint of citrusy complexity, she sometimes includes a drop of orange blossom water, too.

cocktails Glassware Guide

  1. Ice
  2. 1 1/2 ounces vodka
  3. 1/2 ounce Cognac
  4. 1/2 ounce fresh lemon juice
  5. 1/2 ounce Simple Syrup
  6. 5 blackberries
  7. 1 orange twist, for garnish
  1. Fill a cocktail shaker with ice. Add the vodka, Cognac, lemon juice, Simple Syrup and blackberries and shake well. Strain into a chilled martini glass and garnish with the orange twist.
