La Melonada is based on a traditional Mexican agua frescamade with fruit, herbs, spices and water. The usual garnish at Las Palmas: skewered cantaloupe balls.

- 3/4 cantaloupe cubes
- One 1/2-inch piece of peeled fresh ginger, chopped
- 2 ounces silver tequila
- 3/4 ounce Cointreau or other triple sec
- 1/2 ounce water
- 3/4 ounce Simple Syrup
- 3/4 ounce fresh lime juice
- Ice
Directions
- In a blender, puree all of the ingredients except the ice. Strain into an ice-filled shaker. Shake well; strain into a chilled martini glass.
