La Melonada is based on a traditional Mexican agua fresca—made with fruit, herbs, spices and water. The usual garnish at Las Palmas: skewered cantaloupe balls.

Ingredients

  • Ingredients
    1. 3/4 cantaloupe cubes
    2. One 1/2-inch piece of peeled fresh ginger, chopped
    3. 2 ounces silver tequila
    4. 3/4 ounce Cointreau or other triple sec
    5. 1/2 ounce water
    6. 3/4 ounce Simple Syrup
    7. 3/4 ounce fresh lime juice
    8. Ice

Directions

  1. In a blender, puree all of the ingredients except the ice. Strain into an ice-filled shaker. Shake well; strain into a chilled martini glass.
