Hot Buttered Rum

Ghee (clarified butter) mixes with rum more easily than regular butter, giving this hot toddy a silkier texture. Ghee is available in jars at Whole Foods and specialty food markets as well as Indian groceries.
2 ounces dark or amber rum
3/4 ounce melted ghee or unsalted butter
1/2 to 3/4 ounce honey
4 ounces hot water
Freshly grated nutmeg, for garnish
- In a warmed mug or heatproof glass, combine the rum with the ghee and honey. Stir in the hot water and garnish with the nutmeg.
