Ghee (clarified butter) mixes with rum more easily than regular butter, giving this hot toddy a silkier texture. Ghee is available in jars 
at Whole Foods and specialty food markets as well as Indian groceries.

Ingredients

  • 2 ounces dark or amber rum
  • 3/4 ounce melted ghee or unsalted butter
  • 1/2 to 3/4 ounce honey
  • 4 ounces hot water
  • Freshly grated nutmeg, for garnish

How to make this recipe

  1. In a warmed mug or heatproof glass, combine the rum with the ghee and honey. Stir in the hot water and garnish with the nutmeg.
