  • 3 lemon wedges
  • Superfine sugar
  • 2 dashes of Angostura bitters
  • Ice
  • 1 ounce gin
  • 1 ounce sloe gin, preferably Plymouth
  • 1/2 ounce sweet vermouth
  • 1/2 ounce Cointreau or other triple sec
  • 1 lemon twist

How to make this recipe

  1. Moisten half of the outer <a href="/articles/cocktail-basics-techniques#rimmingaglass">rim</a> of a martini glass with 1 of the lemon wedges and coat lightly with sugar. In a cocktail shaker, muddle the remaining 2 lemon wedges with the bitters. Add ice and all of the remaining ingredients except the twist. Shake well and strain into the prepared martini glass. Garnish with the lemon twist.
