This fancy old-fashioned is made with Cognac instead of the traditional bourbon or blended whiskey.

1 teaspoon sugar
2 dashes of Peychaud's bitters
2 dashes of Angostura bitters
1/2 teaspoon club soda
2 ounces VSOP Cognac
1 orange slice
1 brandied cherry
Ice

In a pint glass, stir the sugar with both bitters and the club soda to a paste. Add the Cognac, orange slice and cherry and stir again. Add ice, stir again and strain into an ice-filled double rocks glass.
