French 75

Gin and champagne? Mais oui. Named for an artillery gun used in World War I, the French 75 has a surprisingly clean taste and an explosive effect.

  1. 1 tablespoon gin
  2. 1 tablespoon Cointreau
  3. 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  4. 1/2 cup Champagne or sparkling wine
  1. Put a handful of ice cubes in a shaker and add the gin, Cointreau and fresh lemon juice. Shake and strain into a Champagne flute. Add the Champagne or sparkling wine and stir gently.
